Vegan trend boosts potential for insect protein


The world is in need of sustainable alternatives to meat. Around 2007, plant-based products were the novel protein sources that only occurred “now and then” in the news. Today, news is all about plant-based. This development is the “red carpet” for insect protein and the same will happen for insect-based products as well, Protifarm believes.

Insect proteins are nutrient-dense, and due to their suitability to vertical farming, they can be produced in a very sustainable way. Products containing insect proteins therefore offer a solution for some of the world’s current problems.
